Worst Boyfriend Ever, a substack that started out as a 25 year old man writing about how he perpetually cheats on his girlfriend due to a sex addiction that has now evolved into a lifeblog about a man that journeys in his van and writes books, has become one of the fastest growing substacks in “the sphere”.
One may ask about what exactly the appeal is — for me, it’s the personal investment, the honesty, and to be frank, the fact that reading it satisfies some sense of morbid curiosity about the world. Not sure if it’s more about him or the girls he has sex with.
I’ve read most of his posts, enough to recall some details but not enough to sketch out his life story:
I believe he graduated from a university in the West of the United States, a nonprestigious one. Given the average IQ of college graduates is only 109 these days, education can’t be used as a reliable measurement of intelligence.
IQ can be predicted from writing with reasonable accuracy (r = .77 or so) using machine learning, but I’m not sure if humans (especially untrained humans) can make these judgements as accurately. In terms of style, he is informal, though this is intentional and I think it adds to the reading experience.
He posts frequently — this could be because he spends a lot of time writing or because he does so quickly; either way one should guess that a frequent poster is more intelligent.
Seems to have a preference for Asian girls. Due to cross-race assortative mating, one would expect a White guy who goes for Asian girls to be slightly more intelligent on average.
He worked a marketing job. Not much to go on there.
From what I read on his blog and intuit, he seems fairly socially competent. I am of the opinion that intelligence and social competence do correlate, albeit weakly. It’s not as perceptible in real life because social classes and individuals adhere to different rules and patterns of behaviour. (OK — but it is a little autistic to yell “YOLO YOLO YOLO” as you strip off your clothes in front of a girl).
He’s not religious. A weak indicator, but I guess it’s something.
He’s very self aware. Or very good at mimicking it.
He mentioned in a DM that he got tested as a kid, which suggests either low or high intelligence.
There’s no big “oh wow this guy’s probably smart” indicator of intelligence (e.g. having a PhD in a respectable field or being really good at a video game). But from all of the information I have available, I find it hard to believe that his IQ is under 110. Given that he mentioned he got tested, my guess is 133. Otherwise, I would have guessed 125.
He's homeless, you need to adjust the score with homeless population averages
